Ahoy Rainbow Pirates, Landlubbers, Buccaneers and Mates:

Come and join Captain Jessica and her mates, the 2007 Grand Officers for “ PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN - RAINBOW STYLE.” We know that each and every one of you TREASURED YOUR RAINBOW, this year. There are more treasures in store. Drop an anchor at the Fallsview Resort and Spa in Ellenvile, NY, to witness the lasting treasures that only New York Rainbow can bestow.

DOOR DECORATING

The Junior Grand Executive Committee will also be holding the door-decorating contest again this year. The doors should be decorated using this year’s Grand Assembly theme of the Pirates of the Caribbean. NEW RULES FOR DOOR DECORATING…It is very important that these guidelines are adhered to, as these are imposed on us by the hotel, and we will be penalized for going outside of these guidelines. Masking tape MAY NOT be used. Posters should be affixed to the doors using either fun tack, magnets, or hung over the door using string or fishing line. Please respect the hotel’s request -doors that do not adhere to these guidelines will not be eligible to compete in the contest.

PICTURES

We would like you to bring some of your old Rainbow pictures to Grand Assembly. This is more for the girls of yesteryear than for the active girls of today. You are encouraged to participate. We are trying to put together a New York Rainbow archive. A place to drop off the pictures will be posted at Grand Assembly. These are pictures which you would like to donate to Grand Assembly. Please, only “Rainbow appropriate” pictures. They should be fun to look at.

IDENTIFIERS

This year, instead of doing swaps, we would like each Assembly to wear matching identifiers so that we can all know who belongs to what Assembly. Each identifier should be some form of a pirate costume, for example a hat, eyepatch, a sword, etc. Please make an extra one to turn into the Grand Assembly Committee so that we can put them on display for everyone to see.

THURSDAY

After session on Thursday evening, we will be Pirates at play. We will be playing games

on our pirate ship. Shooting cannon balls, walking the plank, drinking “ale.” Keep checking all over the hotel for doubloons for our scavenger hunt.

FRIDAY During the day on Friday, there will be games and races by the pool. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit. After session on Friday evening we will engage in a treasure hunt you will never forget. “The Pirates of the Caribbean” may be playing somewhere in the hotel. Casual Rainbow attire (slacks) - No shorts.

POOL The pool will be open during Free Time periods during the day only, and will be closed by 6pm each day. There will be a lifeguard on duty from 10am – 6pm (supplied by the hotel); if the lifeguard feels that anyone is placing either themselves or others in danger they will be required to leave the pool area. Anyone wishing to use the pool should bring a bathing suit, pool footwear(flip flops), and an appropriate cover-up to be worn to and from the pool.

DRESS CODE

Badges must be worn at all times. The Rainbow Dress Code is in effect throughout the entire weekend. Dress slacks are permitted at lunch on Thursday; dresses, skirts, or gowns are required. For all other meals and sessions. During free time activities casual attire is permitted – slacks are appropriate. NO JEANS, SHORTS, MINI SKIRTS, OR PAJAMA BOTTOMS ARE ALLOWED. Mother Advisors – you are responsible for ensuring that your girls are properly attired. Encourage them to leave inappropriate attire at home. They will not be permitted to wear it at Grand Assembly. Those in inappropriate attire will be required to return to their rooms to change.

SOME OTHER REMINDERS…. Although many of us have CELL PHONES, they are not to be brought into any sessions.
The noise is both distracting and rude, so please either turn it off or leave it in your room. Note – many cell phones do not have reception at the hotel, as the mountains interfere.

'
ROOM TRASHING’ will not be tolerated. Decorating of rooms with various products and/or removal of items from rooms is not acceptable. Hard feelings have been caused as a result of this in the past, and this is not what Rainbow teaches us. Anyone who is caught engaging in such activity may be sent home at the discretion of the Supreme Deputy.

Appropriate dress for Mother Advisors is long white for Initiation on Friday Evening.

Appropriate dress for Grand Cross of Color- all female attendees should wear skirts. Members of the Grand Cross of Color team must wear long white as do the female designates.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the Fallsview on APRIL 3rd.
