How to become an Advisor for NY Rainbow!
The sponsoring order nominates the members of the advisory board, who serve at the will of the Supreme Inspector of the jurisdiction. Advisory boards are appointed at the annual meeting held annually in November or December, and must be installed at the assembly’s January/February installation.
Who Makes Up The Assemblies Advisory Board?
Each local assembly must have an advisory board of at least seven members, but no more than fifteen members, two of which must be Master Masons. The advisory board consists of Master Masons, members of the Eastern Star, members of the Amaranth, majority Rainbow girls, parents, grandparents, and legal guardians of active or majority Rainbow girls. The Advisory Board is responsible for the general supervision and advising of the assembly and its members. The role of the advisory board is to advise the girls in the proper ways of planning and executing their chosen projects, and to ensure the safety and well-being of all involved.
The Role of the "Mother Advisor"
The Mother Advisor is elected by the Advisory Board at the annual meeting and is installed at the January/February installation for a yearly term of office. She is the liaison between the advisors and the girls, and she works directly with the girls to supervise the execution of the assembly’s plans and programs. The Mother Advisor should be a friend to the girls, and should be available to assist them in their plans, and, if needed, in personal advice and assistance.
