The Grand Officers and Representatives are selected by the Supreme Inspector after reviewing the nomination application completed by the girls, Mother Advisors, and Grand Deputies. Past Worthy Advisors under 21 years of age are eligible to apply for Grand Floor offices. Girls who are at least 13 years of age and who have attended a previous NY Grand Assembly are eligible to apply for Grand Representative appointments. Nomination applications which include a brief resume of their abilities and service, are filled out by the applying girls, then forwarded to the Mother Advisor and then Grand Deputy for their recommendations before submission to the Supreme Inspector.
Girls earn points by performing acts of service to the assembly and community. These points are compiled in our state merit system where girls are awarded service bars, a pot of gold, and wreath to recognize their efforts and wear with pride at Rainbow events.
Grand Cross of Color:
The Grand Cross of Color is the highest award given to an active Rainbow girl or Masonic adult for outstanding service to the organization. Recipients of the award are declared as "Masters of the Grand Cross of Color" and are expected to meet once per year in November for a special service. In order for designates to be nominated, the assembly must initiate 3 new members within a calendar year. For every 3 new members, one girl and one adult may be nominated by the advisory board to receive the Grand Cross of Color for service rendered above and beyond what is expected for Rainbow. Nominations are submitted to the Supreme Inspector for final approval.
Service to Rainbow Award:
Similar to the Grand Cross of Color, this award recognizes non-Masonic adults for their outstanding service to the organization.
Other Recognitions and Honors:
Rainbow girls in New York have opportunities to apply for college scholarships within Rainbow as well as our extended Masonic family. We also have incentives for bringing in new members, ritual competition, and Grand Officer competitions, as well as other programs to recognize the efforts put forth by individual Rainbow girls and assemblies in helping our Rainbow grow and prosper.
